Tydes helps surfers discover spots, view forecast information, plan trips, find stays and connect with the surf community. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information such as email address, display name, handle, profile details and verification status.
- Content you create, including posts, events, comments, messages, media uploads, reports, blocks, favorites and alerts.
- Surf preferences such as saved spots, selected forecast spot, premium status, notification preferences and language preference.
- Purchase and subscription status from app-store payment providers or RevenueCat. We do not receive full card numbers from Apple or Google.
- Basic technical data such as device type, app version, request logs, crash information, IP address and approximate region needed to run and secure the service.
How we use information
- To create and secure accounts, send verification or reset emails and prevent duplicate handles.
- To show forecasts, tides, alerts, maps, posts, events, messages, profiles, favorites and premium features.
- To personalize spot and travel discovery and show relevant accommodation options by surf area.
- To moderate content, process reports, block users, prevent spam and keep the community safer.
- To improve Tydes, diagnose bugs, protect against abuse and provide customer support.
Forecasts, tides and location data
Tydes uses surf spots, map coordinates, forecast providers, tide providers and cached forecast data to show surf-planning information. Forecast and tide information is for planning only and is not a navigation or safety-critical service.
Accommodation and affiliate links
When you open an accommodation or booking link, you leave Tydes and visit a third-party service. That service may receive standard referral information and handle your activity under its own privacy policy. Tydes may receive a commission from qualifying bookings without increasing the price you pay.
Sharing information
We share information with service providers that help operate Tydes, such as hosting, database, media storage, email delivery, forecast and tide data, payment entitlement, analytics, app-store and accommodation referral services. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect users, Tydes or the public.
Your choices
- You can edit your profile information inside the app.
- You can delete your account from app settings.
- You can block users and report content from social surfaces.
- You can manage subscriptions through Apple or Google account settings.
- You can contact us for help accessing, correcting or deleting data.
Children
Tydes is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
